Big Data for Patients

Our diva Betsy attended the inaugural Big Data for Patients training workshop this October in Washington D.C.

Big Data for Patients (BD4P) is a data science training program that seeks to give patient advocates a basic understanding of the science of big data to enable them to participate more fully and effectively in big data initiatives. The program will serve to empower patients and advocates by enhancing data science literacy and critical appraisal skills.


Escape to Thrive Conference

This year all three of our Divas, Betsy, Dawn & Kelley were accepted to attend the ESCAPE cancer advocates conference hosted at Miraval Resort & Spa in Tucson, Arizona.

The conference was an opportunity for cancer advocates from around the country to network with other leaders in the cancer care community while learning about collaborations, public policy advocacy, and wellness for the advocate as well as the survivor.

Our Hope Diva Betsy Glosik will be attending the The Cancer Policy & Advocacy Team (CPAT) Symposium in Washington D.C. This symposium will consider how the individual patient successfully navigates the current care system and also how patients can advocate for a stronger system of care for themselves and other cancer patients, now and in the future.

Goals for Symposium Participants:
To gain an understanding of the most pressing public policy issues facing quality cancer care
To develop advocacy skills in communication and meeting with policymakers
To facilitate advocates’ ongoing engagement with NCCS in public policy advocacy to ensure the
best possible care
